Roberta Di Laura, born in 1992, is a professional dancer, dance teacher and international choreographer, who has already been honoured at Palazzo Montecitorio with the “100 Italian Excellence Awards 2025”. Following her initial training in Taranto, her hometown, she studied under teachers from the world’s leading dance academies, including the “Vaganova Academy in St Petersburg”, the “Paris Opera”, the “ Vienna State Opera’, the ‘Bolshoi Ballet’ in Moscow, the ‘Cuban National Ballet’, the ‘English National Ballet – London’, ‘Steps on Broadway’ in New York, the ‘Contemporary Dance School Hamburg’, the ‘National Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Paris’, the ‘Royal Ballet of Flanders’ and several others. Having graduated in classical, modern and contemporary dance from the “Free University of Dance and Theatre in Mantua” with accreditation from the Ajkun Ballet Theatre in New York, she has also taken part in workshops and advanced courses at academies such as “the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan”, the “Rome Opera Dance School” and the “Rome Ballet School”, where she also undertook an internship with the legendary Carla Fracci. Also worthy of note is her participation in Florence in the prestigious “Master’s Course in Advanced Classical Academic Training for Teachers of the Vaganova Method” with Irina Sitnikova (Vaganova Ballet Academy, Russia)
At the age of just 20, following a selection process based on her CV, she joined the “International Dance Council” in Paris (the world’s leading organisation for all forms of dance), a UNESCO partner based in Paris. Thanks to her appointment as a CID Member, she was authorised to award her students the prestigious “International Certificate of Dance Studies” and gained the opportunity to take part in the World Congresses on Dance Research, honourably representing Italy on the international stage. She has presented research papers on dance at the World Congresses held in Athens, St Petersburg, Avignon, Moscow, Warsaw – where she was the focus of a photographic exhibition at the University of Warsaw and the National Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw – as well as in Canada, Florida, Ukraine, the Bahamas and as far afield as Japan, where, in Tokyo, she was the only Italian to submit a research paper on dance and to represent Italy with honour abroad. She also presented her masterclass ‘Pre-Ballet with Fun: Exercises and Ideas for Little Ballerinas’ during the 62nd World Congress on Dance Research in Mexico and as part of the 8th Hong Kong International Dance Festival. Her brilliant career as a dance teacher began in Taranto, continued in Rome and South Tyrol – where she ran a number of dance workshops – and later took her to Germany, where she taught in various cities including Cologne, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.
She has been living permanently in Germany since 2018 and, since 2019, has been teaching dance in Stuttgart at numerous renowned schools across the city. She also regularly organises examination sessions for her pupils, judged by prestigious panels; she is the artistic director of the ‘International Certification of Dance Studies’ ceremony, and the organiser and choreographer of numerous performances by her pupils abroad, who have already performed in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Greece and Portugal.
She starred in a successful tour of Germany with the ballet “The Nutcracker” and has also featured in numerous other events, including: “Interkulturelle Stadtteilfest Expressions” and “Amore, Amore. The Most Beautiful Italian Love Stories” with the famous author Reinhold Joppich (Cologne, Germany). She has danced for Regio TV Schwaben (Ulm) as part of the ‘Tanzen auf der Donau’ project; at the ‘Domenico Straface Live Concert’ (Frankfurt am Main); at ‘WeltTanzTag’ (Ulm); at the ‘Ulmer Schachtel Performance’; and at ‘Kunst Schimmer – Die Internationale Kunstmesse’ – Donauhalle (Ulm), and as a solo dancer in the production “Warten” at the Roxy Theatre in Ulm with the Ulm-based dance company “Laboratorio Danza”, directed by Carmine Romano, receiving a positive review in the prestigious newspaper *Süddeutsche Zeitung*. She also performed at the prestigious CMT Messe Stuttgart trade fair and choreographed a prestigious event at the “Paul Horn Arena” in Tübingen.She is one of the choreographers of the short film “Elfabia”, which was also screened at a cinema in Stuttgart. Since 2016, she has been collaborating with the international cultural association “Universum Academy Switzerland”, with which she organises cultural and artistic events such as: “Gran Gala Universum”, “Alexander International Award”, “Universum Donna International Award”, “International Award for Outstanding Young People”, the “Universum Literary Prize” and the “Veritatis Splendor Prize”, held in Pescara, Rimini, Lugano and Reggio Emilia. Since 2024, she has been co-artistic director of the “Tanzfestival Stuttgart”, an international dance festival in Stuttgart in collaboration with her colleague Elke Gulden. Her educational background is also rich and varied; indeed, after obtaining her classical school-leaving certificate from the “Liceo Archita di Taranto” (with a mark of 100/100), she got also a degree in “Performing Arts” at Sapienza University of Rome with her dissertation entitled ‘Ida Rubinstein: a revolution at the crossroads of theatre and dance’, presented at the 50th World Dance Congress held in Athens. She also obtained a Master’s Diploma in “Business, Marketing and Project Management”, and completed a postgraduate specialisation course in “Management of Tourism Systems. From Tourism Business Management to Regional Marketing‘, with a thesis on Regional Marketing and Event Management entitled ’Cultural Promotion and Regional Development in the Art of Dance" (Unitelma Sapienza Rome). In 2021, she received the “Una Vita per la Danza” Lifetime Achievement Award in the Dance category from Universum Academy Switzerland, and the “Premio Vigna D’Argento” with the following citation: “Step by step, she has come a long way in the discipline of dance, where dedication and rigour are paramount. From her homeland of Puglia to the heart of Europe, she has carried with her her great passion, her talent and her dedication to training generations of dance students. A multi-award-winning professional dancer, teacher and choreographer, she is also an Ambassador for the Universum Academy and a member of the International Dance Council in Paris (UNESCO).” In 2022, she was awarded the ‘Talento Jonico’ plaque in Taranto, and in 2023, the ‘Dea Ebe Award’ and the ‘International Adriatic Award’ at the ‘Angel Dal Foco’ Theatre in Pergola (PU), with the following citation: “ for her extraordinary international success as a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer, and for promoting the finest image of Puglia worldwide.” In 2024, she received the “La Maschera Banfi” Award in the presence of the renowned Italian actor Lino Banfi, and the “International Recognition Award” from Universum Academy Switzerland. In 2025, she was awarded the prestigious “La Rosa D’Oro International Prize” at the European Parliament’s headquarters in Rome, with the following citation: “Her dedication to the art of dance and her commitment to promoting dance globally make her worthy of the prestigious La Rosa D’Oro award.” She also received the Tugliesi Excellence Award “In recognition of a career marked by successes at prestigious institutions, for her extraordinary performances in theatres and at festivals around the world, and for her ability to combine technique, passion and innovation. For her contribution to training new generations of dancers as artistic director of the Roberta Di Laura – International Dance Project. With gratitude for having raised the profile of Apulian and Italian dance on the international stage through a career marked by talent, commitment and dedication.”
Also in 2025, she was awarded the “Taranto Athlete Award” in her hometown, and the “Donna D’Autore Award” at the Sala della Regina in Palazzo Montecitorio in Rome, with the following citation: “Every step she takes, every movement she makes, tells a story of sacrifice, elegance and profound expression. With her grace and impeccable technique, Roberta not only enchants the audience but elevates dance to an art form that unites cultures and transcends all barriers. For her dedication, for her ability to transform hard work into pure poetry, and for being an ambassador of Italian excellence around the world.” She also received the “Ambasciatore di Terre di Puglia” Award from the Associazione Regionale Pugliesi in Milan at the Auditorium Testori in Milan, with the following citation: “Professional dancer, international choreographer and dance teacher, for her enduring connection with the Apulian region and for promoting Italian and Apulian artistic excellence beyond national borders, helping to raise the profile of talent originating from the lands of Apulia to ever-higher levels”, Universum 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award, Lugano (Switzerland), “Leone D’Oro International Award”, Venice, “Le Eccellenze Salentine Award – IqdB Edizioni” with the following citation: ‘Master of the art of visual storytelling’. A woman from our native land of Puglia, a woman of courage and determination, she has been able to express her innate vocation for art through the harmonious and theatrical visual storytelling of dance on the world’s leading theatres and stages. As a prima ballerina, teacher and choreographer, she has served as an ‘Ambassador of Peace’ across the globe, promoting the ethos of beauty and creativity in our Salento region.‘Duchessa Lucrezia Borgia International Award’ from the cities of Bisceglie and Ferrara.
Her educational background is also rich and varied; indeed, after obtaining her classical school-leaving certificate from the “Liceo Archita di Taranto” (with a mark of 100/100), she got also a degree in “Performing Arts” at Sapienza University of Rome with her dissertation entitled ‘Ida Rubinstein: a revolution at the crossroads of theatre and dance’, presented at the 50th World Dance Congress held in Athens. She also obtained a Master’s Diploma in “Business, Marketing and Project Management”, and completed a postgraduate specialisation course in “Management of Tourism Systems. From Tourism Business Management to Regional Marketing‘, with a thesis on Regional Marketing and Event Management entitled ’Cultural Promotion and Regional Development in the Art of Dance" (Unitelma Sapienza Rome). In 2022, she obtained the “Professional Certificate in Leadership and Communication” (Harvard University edX). She has also undertaken on-site refresher courses at the prestigious “Oxford University” (England) and via e-learning at “Harvard University” (USA), “Columbia University” (USA), “Wageningen University” (Netherlands), “Rochester Institute of Technology” (USA), “Sorbonne” (Paris), “United Arab Emirates University” (United Arab Emirates), “International Business Management Institute” (Germany), “Berklee College of Music” (USA), “Ross School of Business – University of Michigan” (USA), “Luigi Bocconi University” (Italy), “DeVos Institute of Arts Management – University of Maryland” (USA), “Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic”, and “Université de Genève” (Switzerland).
